Prince of the Church

God, I’m sooooo proud of Cardinal Rosales (isn’t it obvious… duhhh…)! I was able to watch the live coverage of the consistory last night. there were a lot of people there. and i am sure there are a lot of filipinos present as well… i mean, out of the 15 new cardinals, one (at least one) is a filipino… not to mention he’s a batangueneo and a bridgetine!

that’s really something… i mean why doesn’t the philippines celebrate for heaven’s sake? really… even batangas city seems to disregard this momentous event…. when i went to mass this morning, i was expecting the priest to say something about the consistory but he did’t say a word about it. what’s the matter with you people?!!!?

i mean, this is a special event especially for the batangueneos because i think this is the first time a batangueneo was elevated to being a prince of the church. i was expecting news updates on philippine television but did i find any? oh no!

and to think that when pacquiao won his fight, the whole country celebrated! i have nothing against manny or his fans but, this just doesn’t seem right… i mean, hello!!!! it’s not everyday a filipino gets to be cardinal— more specifically not a batangueneo gets to be cardinal everyday!

well, i guess this is just the way we are. but even though his being a new cardinal doesn’t get him much attention, i can say this much: there are still youth like myself who salute Cardinal Rosales for his great works. why, he was the one who started ‘pondong batangan’ and ‘pondong pinoy’!

also, he’s just very close to our family. i will never forget his act of kindness to my father. when (the then archbishop of lipa) Gaudencio B. Rosales knew of my father’s stroke attack, he went all the way from lipa to our humble abode just to make sure my father’s fine… (awwwww…..)

and so, to GAUDENCIO CARDINAL ROSALES, our ‘LOLO DENCY’, you rock! more divine power behind you! =)
